If You Have 10-Inch Biceps, Here’s How to Make Them Bigger

December 8, 2021 By Alita Phommabouth

Are 10 inch biceps good image

Let’s be honest, 10-inch biceps aren’t that impressive. They’re not going to register on anyone’s scale and they aren’t going to help you lift that much without some massive help.

So if genetics dealt you a crappy hand (and shrimpy arms) are you doomed to a life of twig arms forever? Not if I have anything to say about it!

Below are the steps you should follow to build bigger arms and finally fill out the sleeves in those baggy t-shirts.

What Are Considered “Big Biceps”? (And How Do You Get Them?)

October 25, 2021 By Kyle Hoffman

What is considered big biceps image

So you want to have big biceps huh? Well, get in line.

A lot of guys are obsessed with big biceps like women are obsessed with Avocado toast.

But what exactly is considered “big” when it comes to biceps?

Bodybuilding legend, Arnold Schwarzenegger claimed to sport 22.8-inch arms post-workout, but I’ll bet most guys in your local gym aren’t coming close to that number.

Furthermore, how the heck do you BUILD big biceps?

If it’s questions like these that keep you up at night, don’t worry. You’re about to find out the reasonable standard for “big” biceps (and how you can get them).

How Long Does it Take to Get an Aesthetic Physique?

October 18, 2021 By Jess Billitz

how long does it take to get an aesthetic physique image

If there’s one thing we know about Millennials and Gen Z, it’s that we don’t know when to let a trend just die. We gave life to invincible phrases like YOLO, squad goals, lit, bet, and ripped.

But with Buzzfeed leading the pack, we also single-handedly ruined the term “aesthetic.”

(It’s hard to say you want to build an “aesthetic physique” without others envisioning an edgy TikToker or ~Vibes~.)

An aesthetic physique will leave you looking like 2021’s version of a Greek god reboot: sub-10% body fat, a sharp V-taper, broad shoulders, a defined core, and generally masculine muscles.

But how long does sculpting an aesthetic build take?

Read on to find out!

Aesthetic Training vs Bodybuilding: What’s the Difference?

October 14, 2021 By Jess Billitz

Aesthetic training vs bodybuilding image

It’s the cringe factor we can’t resist: a skinny fat dude posts a mirror shot in a forum and asks what he can do to jump from a 4 to an 8 to collect his first-ever Tinder matches (big yikes).

The entire “bro” corner of the internet links arms in solidarity and sings the same harmony:

“Bro, lift weights, and you’ll be fine.”

But weightlifting is now a vague term since classic resistance training has evolved into other styles: functional, aesthetic, bodybuilding, powerlifting, and calisthenics (to name a few).

Aesthetic training and bodybuilding are among the easiest to confuse. Below, we’ll settle the aesthetic training vs. bodybuilding debate to help you decide which style is best for you.

How to Maximize Noob Gains (And Build Real Muscle)

July 12, 2021 By Kyle Hoffman

How to build muscle image

If you’re an online gamer, the term “noob” (n00b, newb, nooblet, what have you) is usually hurled in your direction as an insult from a more skilled player … and sometimes, rightfully so.

Being a noob is like a mark of shame.

But in the fitness world, the opposite is true.

Those newbie days are when you learn the most about yourself (and your drive), feel the most confident, and — more importantly — pack on an almost unreal amount of lean mass.

It’s the reason your college buddy returned from the break looking almost unrecognizable, transitioning from scrawny to brawny. Envious, you chalked it up to juicing or other shortcuts.

Now, if you want to maximize noob gains and build real muscle, here’s how:

Aesthetic vs Functional Muscle: What’s the Difference?

April 8, 2021 By Jess Billitz

Aesthetic muscle vs functional muscle image

Traditional (aesthetic) lifting will never exit the bodybuilding world, the most effective method for causing muscle microtears, doubling or even tripling size, and offering a more chiseled definition.

But with functional fitness taking the health industry by storm (a la CrossFit, calisthenics, or even natural dumbbell exercises — like kettlebell rows), we’re left with two still-unsolved debates:

Are aesthetic or functional routines better for your health?

And …

What’s the difference between aesthetic and functional muscle anyway? (Is there a difference?)

Functional training gif

Since one ultimately leads to the other (functional training plops you right in functional muscle’s lap), this’ll be a two-for-one kind of deal. Let’s settle these ongoing controversies once and for all!

Here’s Why You’re Getting Stronger But Not Bigger

January 18, 2021 By Jess Billitz

Getting stronger but not bigger image

The noob gains — and the confidence that comes with them — can only last for so long. Six months and 20+ pounds of mass later, the reflection in the mirror will begin to seem permanent.

Strangely enough, you’re doing everything right.

A gram of protein per pound.

A professionally-designed, hardcore split routine.

An extra plate on the bar every time you max out.

The strength increases remain steady, yet the physical plateau hits your ego like a ton of bricks.

Telling your buddies that you bench 200+ pounds sounds like pure folklore when your shirts look no tighter, and the number on the scale hardly increases.

You just don’t get it: Why are you getting stronger but not bigger? Here are seven reasons!

How Much Stronger Can You Get in a Month? (Real Goals)

October 19, 2020 By Jess Billitz

How much stronger can you get in a month image

First, the good news:

Every time you add a plate to the barbell, crank out a few extra reps per set and eat 0.5-0.8g of protein per pound of body weight, you’re building strength.

Now, for the bad news:

As with any goal you may have, there’s only so much progress you can make in a month.

No matter how much protein you eat, how many reps you perform, or how much weight you add to the bar.

So how much stronger can you get in a month (realistically)?

Let’s find out what a reasonable goal would be.

How Many Exercises Per Muscle Group?

October 16, 2020 By Steve Burden

How many exercises per muscle group image

Do you ever find yourself slaving away in the gym and thinking, “Should I really be spending this long training one muscle?”

Or do you sometimes feel your workouts are much shorter than others around you and think you must be missing something?

While there’s no set length of a workout, as people have different goals and their bodies react to stimuli in different ways, it is important to make sure each muscle is receiving a sufficient workload.

Hitting that sweet spot ensures they get worked hard enough to encourage growth but not so much that you end up overtraining them, which at best will waste your time and could potentially even do more harm than good.

Well, if you are one of those people who is a little unsure, then don’t fear, I am going to try and help you out.

In today’s article I am going to show you how many exercises you want to be doing to get the best results possible, whatever your goals may be.

Soft muscles image

Do you find yourself spending hours at the gym, but not seeming to develop that physique you’re after?

So many people slave away, building their strength and size, but still aren’t happy with what they see in the mirror. While the bodybuilders and fitness models in magazines always look so hard and ripped, they find they have a softer, less emphatic physique.
