About HTLT – Harder Than Last Time
HTLT is the supplement company of the IFBB Pro Bodybuilder Greg Doucette. And as anyone who knows Greg will tell you, the aim of this company is to make quality products that don’t aim to rob the customer of their worth.
The company, as a whole, does have a great focus on bodybuilders, it would seem, as they stock products like Liver Support and Delta Sleep. (Both of these types of products are used often in the bodybuilding community.)
Greg has grown his own following on social media a lot in the past few years, and his own mission statement of “harder than last time” carries over into his brand.
A central focus of the company is being honest about supplementation. These HTLT supplements won’t “fix” a bad eating or training program, but rather, they’ll amplify a good diet, workout, and sleep schedule.
A Closer Look at G-Shred Fat Burner
As with any fat burner, the overall goal of G-Shred Fat Burner is to help you lose more body fat while dieting. The way in which it does this is split in two:
- Increasing your core body temperature
- Curbing your appetite
The first part of the product, being thermogenic, is about as simple as fat burners get. By raising your core temperature, your body burns more calories. This could potentially work, but for some people who are sensitive to these types of effects, it would be a hard pass.
The second part of the supplement is much more user-friendly. Curbing or lowering appetite can definitely help anyone who’s looking to lose some weight. As logic dictates, eating less would lead to you losing weight.

How Does It Work?
Now that we’ve established the mechanisms explaining how fat burners work (thermogenesis and curbing appetite), how exactly does G-Shred go about this?
Thermogenesis is the act of increasing your own body temperature to expend more energy that way.
There are various ingredients in the product that are thrown in to increase thermogenesis, such as caffeine and cayenne pepper. Ingredients like these are known to increase your body temperature, which could elicit fat loss.
Curbing appetite is a complex thing to try and do, and G-Shred does this by simply managing blood glucose levels. If your blood glucose drops too much/rapidly, you might end up craving sugary foods. By providing a stable level of blood glucose at certain parts of the day, you could end up losing more fat.
HTLT G-Shred Fat Burner Ingredients
Chromium is a rather important mineral in the insulin regulation processes of the body. Chromium helps with both carbohydrate and lipid metabolism, and chromium can help fat loss by reducing insulin resistance.
Less insulin resistance means more glucose in the muscles, and more glucose in the muscles means less glucose in the blood. This means less insulin is produced, and the body will more readily use free fatty acids as energy.
That being said, some studies suggest you need at least 200mcg of chromium picolinate to help with insulin resistance, meaning you’d have to take a 3 capsule serving of this product.
Carnitine has become a very popular compound in fat loss products and is simply marketed as “mobilizes fat.” Well, what it actually does is mediate the translocation of long-chain fatty acids into mitochondria, where they can be used as energy.
Carnitine has various benefits ranging from increased lipid oxidation to increased recovery. While oral carnitine does have some positive effects, some would argue that the bioavailability is way too low, and you can only receive the benefit if it’s injected.
How To Take HTLT G-Shred
The website doesn’t actually explain how to use it, so we’ll have to look at what’s inside to make a decision. Based on the fact that it does contain some stimulants and has a thermogenic effect, it would be best to take this before 3 – 4 pm in the afternoon on an empty stomach.
To possibly amplify the effects, you could take it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach before doing fasted cardio.
G-Shred Fat Burner Side Effects
There will always be individuals who experience certain side effects when taking any substance, whether that be due to genetics, age, or even dosage.
The most common side effect of G-Shred is just being heated. Because it’s a thermogenic substance, you’re going to feel warmer, especially when you venture into the higher dosages.
Where Can You Buy G-Shred Fat Burner?
Once you have both dieting and training in check, you can look to add this fat burner to your daily routine. You can purchase it on the HTLT site, where you’ll also find a lot of the other products they stock
2 G-Shred Pros
- Variety is dosing: Often, “one dose” isn’t one dose for everyone. Two people who have wildly different body and muscle mass cannot possibly use the same amount, and G-Shred gives you the freedom of choice.
- Low on caffeine: The caffeine dose isn’t that high, so if you’re sensitive to caffeine, this might work for you.
2 HTLT Fat Burner Cons
- Some dosings are too low: Both the carnitine and chromium should be higher for max effects.
- Servings are low when you use enough: To really get the appropriate dosing, you need to use more servings, and that lowers the total amount of servings per bottle – which sucks.
What Other Reviews Are Saying
Stack3d.com had the following to say about this product:
“G Shred is much more in line with the ingredients and dosages backing its other advanced sports nutrition supplements and a fitting replacement.’
Is HTLT G-Shred Fat Burner Worth it?
In a sense, yes.
Sure, there are some drawbacks to the G-Shred Fat Burner, but the loophole around those will simply be to use more. That might seem like a bit of a commercial solution. But at the end of the day, the product might help you lose fat by burning 100 – 200 extra calories per day.
